چکیده

Bateson-Dobzhansky-Muller Incompatibilities are theorized to be one of the main causes of post-zygotic reproductive isolating barriers. While many quantitative models for the development of such incompatibilities exist, few have dealt with the effect the structure of protein-interaction networks has on the development of incompatibilities, and none deal with incompatibilities between more than two loci. We develop a stochastic model for the development of complex Bateson-Dobzhansky-Muller incompatibilities that incorporates the structure of protein-protein interaction networks, and demonstrate that the structure of the network can drastically change the importance of digenic interactions toward the rate of divergence between populations.

A stochastic model for the development of Bateson-Dobzhansky-Muller incompatibilities that incorporates protein interaction networks.

Speciation is characterized by the development of reproductive isolating barriers between diverging groups. Intrinsic post-zygotic barriers of the type envisioned by Bateson, Dobzhansky, and Muller are deleterious epistatic interactions among loci that reduce hybrid fitness, leading to reproductive isolation. The first formal population genetic model of the development of these barriers was pub...

Study of PKA binding sites in cAMP-signaling pathway using structural protein-protein interaction networks

Backgroud: Protein-protein interaction, plays a key role in signal transduction in signaling pathways. Different approaches are used for prediction of these interactions including experimental and computational approaches. In conventional node-edge protein-protein interaction networks, we can only see which proteins interact but ‘structural networks’ show us how these proteins inter...

Using the Protein-protein Interaction Network to Identifying the Biomarkers in Evolution of the Oocyte

Background Oocyte maturity includes nuclear and cytoplasmic maturity, both of which are important for embryo fertilization. The development of oocyte is not limited to the period of follicular growth, and starts from the embryonic period and continues throughout life. In this study, for the purpose of evaluating the effect of the FSH hormone on the expression of genes, GEO access codes for this...

An Inexact-Fuzzy-Stochastic Optimization Model for a Closed Loop Supply Chain Network Design Problem

The development of optimization and mathematical models for closed loop supply chain (CLSC) design has attracted considerable interest over the past decades. However, the uncertainties that are inherent in the network design and the complex interactions among various uncertain parameters are challenging the capabilities of the developed tools. The aim of this paper, therefore, is to propose a n...

Widespread Genomic Incompatibilities in Caenorhabditis elegans

In the Bateson-Dobzhansky-Muller (BDM) model of speciation, incompatibilities emerge from the deleterious interactions between alleles that are neutral or advantageous in the original genetic backgrounds, i.e., negative epistatic effects. Within species such interactions are responsible for outbreeding depression and F2 (hybrid) breakdown. We sought to identify BDM incompatibilities in the nema...
